PRESCHOOLS IN BECKENHAM

Children begin preschool with us at the age of three, getting them ready for the transition into school life. We are one of the leading preschools in Beckenham, and our setting is designed to help your preschoolers become independent, confident and happy children, who are ready to tackle school head on. Children who have been through preschool tend to slot naturally into school life, as they have had the chance to develop and socialise with their peers – they usually have better language skills, better social skills and can do more for themselves. As a parent, this takes a big weight off your mind as you know they will be emotionally and physically ready for the next big step in their little lives.

WHAT DO YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT PRESCHOOL?

  • Staff to children ratio is 1:8
  • Your child will be assigned a keyworker who will work closely with them and monitor their progress. You will receive regular communication and can book in meetings with the keyworker whenever you like.
  • We see your child through until they go to school. They will have a guaranteed place on their regular days, until they move on to reception.
  • Preschool is a place to learn and have fun. It sets a child up perfectly for school, getting them used to the routines and having more independence.

Outdoor play

Preschool children have plenty of opportunities to explore the great outdoors. We visit local nature reserves and will soon have our very own outdoor learning environment (coming in 2018).

Heuristic play

This is an open-ended form of play that lets children really use their imaginations. They use natural objects to stimulate their minds and create anything they like – the options are endless.

An independent company comes in to teach Phonics Stars, a programme that focuses on literacy development through the exploration of sounds. This builds important foundations for children starting school.

Tinker table

This table features real life tools, such as keys, padlocks and pieces of wood. It helps children develop their fine motor skills and hand eye co-ordination – as well as being great fun for preschoolers.

Cookery classes

We run cookery classes to teach children about nutrition and help them develop general cooking skills. They understand where their ingredients come from and are encouraged to enjoy healthy, fresh food.

We make plenty of time for playing – this is the most effective way for preschoolers to learn. We support them in their development, but make sure they don’t grow up too fast aa well!
